Associated Biotech and Science

Biotechnology and science relating to advanced skin care.

Item 1.00

Recent biotech developments have led to skin regeneration working with Extracellular Matrix.

Extracellular matrix: review of its roles in acute and chronic wounds - the authors describe the role and function of the extracellular matrix, the largest component of normal skin, and the importance of re-establishing a functional ECM in chronic wounds to facilitate the healing process.

Item 2.00

Associate biomedical and skin science pioneer Dr Peter Pugliese.

Dr Peter Pugliese has dedicated many years of his life to the analysis of skin and has produced the publication, Advanced Professional Skin Care(medical edition) for use by beauty therapist and skin specialists.

This is available in New Zealand for $199.99 + gst and P&P.

(Previous edition are scarce to find on the internet.)

A microRNA mechanism may lie at the heart of why some skin cell growth goes unchecked, according to a paper published today in Nature. The authors found that one microRNA regulates the differentiation of progenitor skin cells into the stratified outer layers of the skin.

Sugar and Skin what going on?

Diabetes research leads to great skin
While conducting research on a novel technology that could improve the livers of cancer patients and diabetics, a team of scientists at the Fox Chase Cancer Centre in Philadelphia discovered the presence of 3-deoxyglucosone (3DG) in the skin.
The NIH- funded research uncovered the link between 3DG, skin ageing, collagen depletion and the loss of skin elasticity.

A new product for the skin is born an will soon be in the market place.

Commet by Dr Peter T. Pugliese:

Sugar as glucose is the main energy source of
the body. When sugar is combined with protein in the presence of high heat
(above 140 C) there is are a reaction between the sugar and the protein that
results in a compound called an advance glycation end product., or AGE.
These AGE's are nasty radicals that react directly with the body in many ways
to destroy or to inactivate both enzymes and disable tissues such as
collagen. When the AGE's react with cells via an AGE receptor (called RAGE)
they evoke a protein called NF kappa B with is a transcription factor that
reacts with the DNA of the cell and produces many harnmful products. This
overall is probably the major cause of aging, heart disease, kidney disease,
many cancers and  over a hundred other diseases or disorders of humans. Look
up this site on the web which will introduce you to NF-kB.

Scientist Magazine relates the relationship between cellular respiration, Parkinsons disease and mitochondrial ageing.

This is a fascinating topic as ARNZ Science our affiliated Co, orginally produced the Danne DMKEFA product which helps to maintain COX(cytochrome c oxidase);(COX), which in turn produces prostaglandin PGE1, which is now available as our Smooth Skin, Beautynutraceuticals product. (The new Danné formulation is based on different ingredients and science.)

Cellular energy relating to skin maintenance is creating some new discoveries and we will have more information on this in the very near future.
